Confident Australia looking to get stuck into the Indians in T20I series: Alex Carey

first_imgAustralia vice-captain Alex Carey feels the experience of playing in the recently-concluded Big Bash League T20 has given them the necessary confidence to take on India in the upcoming T20 international series.Nine of the 15 players in the Australian T20I squad featured in at least 11 games in the BBL this season, with six cricketers also featuring in the final between Melbourne Renegades and Melbourne Stars which the former won in dramatic fashion last week.Carey says the Aussies are in T20 mode already coming into this series and will be looking to “get stuck into the Indians” in the upcoming series starting February 24.”The guys have had their Big Bash campaign just finished and they’re in T20 mode so we’ll hit the two T20s and then get stuck into the five one-dayers,” Carey said in Hyderabad on Friday.”The confidence is up for all the players and we’re really excited now to get playing, get stuck into the Indians.”India enjoy a great record against Australia in T20 Internationals. However, the last two T20I series between the two countries have ended in stalemate thanks to rain-affected matches.”I think the guys coming off the Big Bash have played a lot of T20 cricket and I think we’ll treat these as some pretty big games of T20 cricket leading into the World Cup next year in Australia. Any opportunity we get to play T20 it’s T20 mode, which hopefully will start off our tour really well.”(It’s) some exciting cricket, go out there and play fearless and have some freedom and get stuck in to these guys,” Carey said.advertisementIndia meanwhile, suffered an early blow even before the start of the series as star all-rounder Hardik Pandya was ruled out for the T20I and ODI series due to a back injury. There was no replacement named for the T20I series but Ravindra Jadeja was named replacement for the ODIs.India and Australia drew the T20I series 1-1 Down Under last year but the Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma-led sides won the Tests and ODI series with an identical 2-1 scoreline to cap off a historic overseas tour earlier this year. Also Read | Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni gear up for India’s T20I series vs AustraliaAlso Read | Opportunity for Rishabh Pant to cement his World Cup berth: Harbhajan SinghAlso Read | D’Arcy Short working on spin bowling to enhance selection for India serieslast_img read more
