first_imgThe Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) in theBenjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources atWest Virginia University (WVU) invites applications for the twopositions of Post Doctoral Fellow in the general area of MaterialsScience & Engineering. Position (1) focuses on high temperaturealloys, high temperature oxidation/corrosion, and Position (2)focuses on solid oxide fuel cells/electrolysis cells and relatedelectrochemical materials & devices. The initial appointmentsfor both are one year with the possibility of extension.Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:planning and conducting laboratory experiments to confirmfeasibility of sensor devices, processes and techniques used insitu monitoring high-temperature electrochemical kinetics, noiseand corrosion process for coal ash hot corrosion in superalloys orstainless steels; a ttending research conferences and readscientific literature to keep abreast of technological advances andcurrent research findings; identifying and assisting withacquisition of funding from public, private, and governmentalsources; searching scientific literature to select and modifymethods and procedures most appropriate for research goals;performing laboratory and field (in a power plant) experimentactivities according to protocol; overseeing research facilitiesand personnel; writing and presenting research/study status reportsfor review and use of the principal investigator; and preparing theresults of experimental findings for presentation to colleagues andthe sponsor.West Virginia University is the State’s comprehensive Land GrantUniversity with an enrollment of about 29,000 students and a R1Carnegie Classification.
