Revolution is making Broken Sword 5 and Beneath a Steel Sky 2

first_imgThe much-loved adventure game series Broken Sword has seen four games released commercially, but for the fifth game entitled Broken Sword: The Serpent’s Curse, developer Revolution Software turned to Kickstarter. The team needed $400,000 to make the game a reality, and now the Kickstarter is over they received pledges totaling $771,561. As is becoming increasingly common with these Kickstarter projects, there’s a number of additional “stretch goals” promised. These offer additional content or rewards that will only happen when funding milestones are reached beyond the minimum Kickstarter goal that ensures the project gets funded.Revolution set stretch goals at $500k, $650k, $700k, $800k, and the $1 million mark. They unlocked the Director’s Cuttings, new exotic locations including North Africa and the Middle East, and the opportunity to have a backer’s likeness put in the game. The million dollar bonus stretch would have seen point-and-click sci-fi adventure game Beneath a Steel Sky receive a sequel, but unfortunately the Kickstarter fell well short of that funding goal. However, there is some good news for Beneath a Steel Sky fans. Due to the amount of interest in the sequel, Revolution has decided to make the game anyway once Broken Sword: The Serpent’s Curse is finished, which is set to happen some time in early 2013.Hopefully that means we’ll be getting two new games from Revolution to play next year, but that all depends on how long Beneath a Steel Sky 2 takes to comes together as it is going to see a release across PC, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS. There’s even talk of it potentially heading to consoles.Anyone wishing to play the original Beneath a Steel Sky can pick it up in remastered form on the App Store or for their PC at The Broken Sword games are also pretty easy to get a hold of for a few dollars each.More at Develop and Kickstarterlast_img
